Top 10 Sales persons of all time: Through the ages, sales and selling are ever present. From the earliest times when merchants sold or traded the best silk, to present day market traders who buy and sell stocks on Wall Street. Sales practices have evolved and can still evolve until the top of mankind.

In the present day there are many of us who have pioneered changes within the industry, many of which are still applied and adapted by today’s top sales professionals.

So who are these pioneers and what impact have that they had on the sales industry?

  1. 1 John H. Patterson

    John Henry Patterson is remembered because the founding father of the National register Company. However, he's also considered one among the best salesmen of all time.

    It is believed that Patterson invented modern selling, together with his pioneering efforts leading him to make the sales training manual, canned presentations and quotas.

    Patterson bought NCR at the age of 40, and therefore the company wasn't doing alright . the corporate was hampered by a product that wasn't in demand and salesmen who, quite literally, didn’t skills to sell.

    David Ogilvy’s work laid the groundwork for the marketing practices that are taught today. It all started when he worked as a door to door stove salesman. He excelled such a lot that his employer asked him to write down a sales training manual for other sales agents within the company.

  5. 5 Napoleon Barragan
