Shreya Ghoshal is an Indian playback singer, music producer and composer. She is a small town girl who made it big in the Indian Music Industry. She was one of the leading singers in the Indian entertainment industry during the 2000s and has millions of fans worldwide.
Shreya Ghoshal developed interest in music right from the age of four years. She started her formal training in Indian classical music at the age of six under Mahesh Chandra Sharmaji. Later, she was also mentored by Padmashree Late Kalyanji Shah and Late Mukta Bhideji. The reality show Sa Re Ga Ma came as a blessing in her life because it was in this show that the famous Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali spotted her. Thus, she got her big break as a playback singer and debuted with SLB’s iconic movie Devdas in 2002. She went on to collaborate with all the top music composers of Bollywood and has been ruling the Indian music industry since the last two decades.
Shreya Ghosal has won four National awards in the category of Best Female Playback Singing. She also received seven Filmfare Awards and ten Filmfare Awards South for Best Female Playback Singer. The Governor of The United States of Ohio honoured her in 2010, by naming 26th June as ‘Shreya Ghoshal Day’.
