Sushant Singh Rajput was exceptionally good in studies. He secured AIR 7th rank in DCE entrance exam and studied Mechanical Engineering in DCE. In all, he cleared as many as 11 engineering entrance exams, including that for the Indian School of Mines. He is also a National Olympiad Winner in Physics. Before pursuing acting as a career, he started participating in theatre and dance, due to which he didn't get time for studies and ultimately,he had to drop out from the college.
He worked as a background dancer during his initial days of stuggling, after which he got a chance to work with Ekta Kapoor,who gave him his 1st break in a TV Serial in a supporting role, in 2008. He was so much loved by the viewers,that made Ekta Kapoor to cast him as a lead actor in another TV serial,Pavitra Rishta as Manav. This performance was his breakthrough and gave him a stepping stone into films.
In october 2011, Sushant decided to quit Pavitra Rishta to pursue a filmmaking course abroad and in november 2011, Rajput quit the series and was replaced by Hiten Tejwani.
In 2013, Sushant made his movie debut in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che as Ishaan Bhatt,for which he was praised and loved by viewers well. Following his debut movie, he also did several other movies like Shuddh Desi Romance, PK, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
In 2016, He was casted as MS Dhoni in the biopic of Dhoni,which made a successful in the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2016. The film was a turning point in his career. Rajput's performance was widely praised by critics and earned him his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
From 2017 to 2019, he appeared in a lot of movies out of which Chhichhore gained much more appreciation and love from his fans.
In 2020, he starred in Mukesh Chhabra's remake of The Fault in Our Stars titled Dil Bechara.The film was slated to be released in May of that year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite coming from a middle class family background,he pursued his dreams overcoming all obstacles. He was not only an exceptional performer but also had a golden heart. He always used to help his fans whenever they seek help from him. His grounded nature has made him gain more fans. He is a true inspiration for today's generation,who want to become great yet grounded like him.
