RISE LIKE A PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES-OPRAH WINFREY: A TRUE EXAMPLE
I AM MY OWN STRENGTH: –
In a generation full of depression and anxiety, where we tend to pull ourselves down just after facing little problems in life, the journey of Oprah Winfrey should be truly inspiring. She is known for her several roles like that of a media executive, an actress, a television host and many more but I would like to describe her as “One of the greatest Philanthropist of our times”.
OPRAH WINFREY better known as OPRAH GAIL WINFREY has seen problems throughout her life starting from her childhood. She was born to a single teenager mother in rural MISSISSIPPI. Her mother struggled a lot to raise her. Destiny decided to play a role in her life and brought the same fate to her. She was pregnant at 14 and produced a son who died early due to premature birth. She revealed the reason behind her early pregnancy to be molestation during her childhood. At this age, when one cannot even think about leading their life on their own, she stood tall and decided to not let her morals down. She landed a job in radio. Then, at 19 she became the co-anchor for the local evening news. Slowly, many people could relate to Oprah’s emotional delivery, and she gained popularity due to her extraordinary skills. Then, she was offered a daytime talk show arena where she boosted the show’s popularity from third position to first position. Her dreams were not limited to this, she wanted to do something different. She launched her own production company, where she started the iconic “THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW” where she inspired millions of youth by quoting things like “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”
Also in this show, she revolutionized the tabloid talk show genre by raising sensitive topics like those of the LGBT community. Her life was never a bed of roses. Even after all these she was criticized for her open-mind, promoting controversial things, and even for being too emotional. But rising above all these she was awarded PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM by President Barack Obama and many more awards. She became famous all over the world due to her iconic speeches at the award ceremonies. One of them being the iconic Golden Globes Award speech.
FROM RAGS TO RICHES: –
She became the richest African American of the 20th century and North America’s first black multi-billionaire. She truly justifies the tag of “Queen of All Media”. I still remember our English teacher recited the poem “Phenomenal Women” by Maya Angelou. I was so inspired by the poem that I decided to search the history behind it. Then, I came across a recitation of this poem by Oprah Winfrey. I was amazed by the depth in her voice, and the sensitiveness she possessed despite being a big name. Her never- giving up attitude and her will to become a successful person leaving all the painful past behind has touched me. She is not a quitter.Problems come and go but life is meant to be lead in an elegant way.
This Philanthropist will be remembered by many. To everyone reading this story, getup and shine because remember:
“Your journey begins with a choice to get up, step out and live fully”- OPRAH WINFREY.
