A successful Indian businessmen, and Tata Group patriarch- Ratan Tata is one of the most celebrated names . Ratan Naval Tata is an Indian industrialist, investor, philanthropist, and former chairman of Tata Sons who is currently serving as the chairman of Tata Trusts. The notable industrialist is the recipient of two of the highest civilian awards – Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000).
Tata is well known for his business ethics and philanthropy.He firmly believes in wonders of mankind and values their efforts. He considers –Treating your team right might just be the one things which can help you achieve greatness.
His strong and bold statement on layoffs by indian corporates amid COVID -19 has caught eyes of many.
While marking his opinions he quoted- “These are the people that have worked for you. These are the people who have served you all their careers. You send them out to live in the rain. Is that your definition of ethics when you treat your labour force that way?”
He sensitised how unethical is it for the companies to let their people out under such difficult and sudden environment. These were the people who helped companies to earn big bucks and reach successes .. n their well- being should be a paramount but the company's are all set to leave them under dipressed times !
Further quoting , he articulated -"It is impossible to survive as a company if one is not sensitive to its people,” adding, “Covid-19 hits you wherever you are. Whatever your reasons may be, you have to change in terms of what you consider fair or good or necessary in order to survive.”
He understands how an employee’s laborious and diligent work efforts makes an exception in the company and their careers He has felt that kindness and generosity are the pillars of value generation. An organisation should align its ethics and work culture in a way that works for betterment of the world as a whole.
Being a compassionate , empathetic and convivial leader , he understands how every business has its share of highs and lows, but the most crucial aspect is how does one overcome the odds.
Under such tuff times , TATA Group have made a cut down in the salaries of top management but continues to work with all his employees.
His dream project-TATA NANO -is itself an inspiration for many businessmen how he is so true in his servings and wants everyone to grow together
