Lakshmi Mittal is an Indian billionaire worth upwards of $12 billion as of 2019. He is an Indian born steel magnate based in the same manner as the United Kingdom, he is an industrial of great influence and importance in his field. Lakshmi Mittal is the chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest manufacturer of steel. the world's largest steelmaking company. He helped globalize the steel industry's business model.
Mittal was born to a conservative business-class Marwari family in Rajasthan. His father, Mohan Lal Mittal, ran a steel business, Nippon Denro Ispat in Rajasthan.
Mittal opened and successfully ran his own steel mill, after which he began to acquire and reorganize failing, mostly state-run, mills around the world. His growth model emulated other global industries, such as car manufacturers and iron and coal companies. As part of his push to make his company a globalized player in the steel industry, he acquired companies in Canada, Germany, and Kazakhstan.
He is the owner of a majority (38%) of the total shares in ArcelorMittal and is also the co-owner of the Queens Park Rangers F. C. with 34% stake in the professional football club. He is also an independent director of Goldman Sachs and is on the board of directors of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company. He attended the Sri Daulatram Nopany Vidyalaya in Kolkata from 1957 to 1964. He later attended St. Xavier’s College. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta. His education helped a lot in his journey to success.
In 2005, Forbes ranked Mittal, the third-richest person in the world. Thus making him the first Indian citizen to be ranked in the top ten in the publication's annual list of the world's richest people. In 2007, Mittal then considered as the richest Asian person in Europe.
He was ranked the sixth-richest person in the world by Forbes in 2011 but dropped to 82nd place in March 2015. He is also the "57th-most powerful person" Forbes' "Most Powerful People" list for 2015.
In 2008 Forbes Lifetime Achievement and he received Padma Vibhushan from Government of India. Mittal earned his fortune through founding his namesake steel company and continuing on as its CEO. Mittal is a well-respected businessman around the globe and sits on various corporate boards as well as gives to philanthropic causes.

He set up Mittal Champions Trust after seeing the performance of India in Olympics last few years. The trust created to support 10 Indian athletes with the potential to beat the world. Mittal awarded Olympic winner Abhinav Bindra with 1.5 crores for winning the Gold Medal in Shooting.
