The name is Bond- Ruskin Bond the 007 of writing. Ruskin started writing when he was just 8years old. He always kept a diary which later became the basis of his first novel. Most of Bond’s stories are related to or are taken from his diary. As a kid I loved reading his books because they were filled with magic and it has got me into writing. I love writing because it plays with the mind. You can show anything and everything to anyone you want. And Bond just did that. His writings were so clear that just by reading a reader couldn paint an exact picture of the situation. His tips helped me learn what writing is about and how to improve it. So to all you creative minds here are a few tips that I learnt from Bond.
1 WRITE EVERYDAY
"You must write regularly every morning and your conscience will be clear"
Bond always writes about 500-2000 words every morning. He belives that a person should write anything that comes to a person's mind that way it will be out of the system.
2 BEFRIEND LONELINESS
Bond had a lonely childhood because of his parents divorce. He says" Solitude is something you seek as a writer". It was in this loneliness he found his passion for writing.
3 BE INDEPENDENT
Bond was in love with writing after her finished his schooling and his first novel The Room On The Roof he went to London were he worked at a photo studio while looking for a publisher. Once his novel was published he went back and settled down in Dehradun.
4 BE A READER
"Reading is all important if you want to write. Start by reading the works of someone you want to emulate," says Bond. "Study their style an experienced reader can tell a passage is by Charles Dickens or Jane Austin because you recognise their voice. Work on your own style and you will find your own voice it develops if you write regularly."- says Ruskin.
5 LEARN HOW TO READ A BOOK
Bond says- "There are different ways to read a book. Some you will read analytically for style, structure etc, others you will read for pure relaxation."
6 STAY GROUNDED
Despite being a famous writer Bond makes himself easily accessible to his readers he is a very down to earth human being.
7 DO NOT DESPAIR
"Believe in your writing and never despair that you won't be published. Even if you despair, write in your despair. Above all, never give up." - says Bond.
